Nominees Sought For Environmental Community Service Award

NBC 10, Wawa and the environmental law firm Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox are looking for the next school club, classroom or team for its annual Environmental Community Service Award.During the next few months, the sponsors will be looking for these groups to establish a worthwhile environmental community service school project that focuses on this year's topic of establishing a "connection to your community."The criteria for projects includes, but is not limited to: establishing awareness of our natural and historic resources, and/or promoting community service that focuses on environmental and quality of life issues.
To qualify, schools must meet the following criteria:Complete and submit the Environmental Community Service Aware under the Community Relations section of Wawa's official Web site
Be located in the following Delaware Valley counties: Pennsylvania -- Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Mongomery and Philadelphia; New Jersey -- Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Ocean and Salem; Delaware -- Kent and New Castle.
The application can be submitted to Wawa's Web site (providing it is sent from an official school e-mail address) or by mail to Wawa's Public Relations Department. Be sure it is signed by a school official.
The proposals from schools who meet the criteria above will be reviewed by a panel of judges from: Wawa, NBC 10, Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP, The Franklin Institute, Academy of Natural Sciences and representatives from Pennsylvania's and New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection and Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.Before the end of May, two schools (one high school project and one middle school project) will be selected from all the completed applications received.
