The Montgomery County Health Department said the children and employees at the unidentified school in the Ambler area have been contacted directly, and there is no direct health threat to the community.

The employee was admitted to a local hospital on Dec. 5 and the person is in stable condition.

The symptoms of bacterial meningitis include headache, body rash, a stiff neck, high fever, chills and nausea, sleepiness and confusion.

Bacterial meningitis can be treated with antibiotics, but it has to be caught early.
