A South Jersey mailman is recovering from a severe beating.

Police said he was the victim of an unprovoked attack along his postal route.A Hamilton Township man has been charged with assault.Police said it had to do with a screen door. They said homeowner Jose Vega-Lopez didn't like the way the mailman shut it.Requesting her face not be shown in an exclusive interview, Vega-Lopez's wife told NBC 10 that her husband had a running feud with the postman."He would come and just throw our mail on the floor like out of spite or slam our door, you know, as he was putting the mail in, slam it," she said.The unidentified mailman was beaten unconscious, hospitalized, and then sent home.Vega-Lopez is charged with aggravated assault.
