On second thought, U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter won't ask Congress to look into the anti-trust aspects of the Eagles-Terrell Owens case.

The former Philadelphia district attorney has told reporters he'll turn the matter over to the Justice Department, and not pursue a congressional investigation.
There's no word on if the Justice Department will act on Specter's suggestions. On Monday, Specter said he was asking Congress to investigate the Eagles' handling of the Terrell Owens case because he felt he feels the Eagles may have violated anti-trust laws in the way they treated the star receiver."I am madder than hell at what he's done in ruining the Eagles season," said Specter, R-Pa., about T.O. at a press conference in Harrisburg. However, Specter feels NFL owners have black listed Owens and it may be appropriate to open an anti-trust investigation into the whole Terrell Owens affair."The NFL had sent out a notice to all the owners not to talk to Owens or do anything with respect to Owens, and as I read it, and I'm having it checked out... it's a restraint of trade for them to do that," Specter told reporters. The long-time Eagles' fan told reporters he's not a Terrell Owens fan.One expert said Specter's suspicions may not have the legal weight to make it to a public hearing."As much as I hate to disagree with the esteemed senator, I don't see an antitrust claim here," said Matthew J. Mitten, director of the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University, speaking to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We're in the labor arena, not anti-trust."The Eagles and Owens had no comment.
