Muy Lin’s Nissan Pathfinder was devoured by a sinkhole in the Logan section of the city Sunday night.

A water main break caused the sinkhole.

The asphalt on Rockland near Camak Street started cracking during the Eagles game. The car started sinking around the same time that the Eagles did, around 6:45 p.m.

Neighbors say they heard a loud “boom” and water started shooting several feet in the air.

The water main had broken. Water Department officials say a pipe in the area had just worn out.

Tons of fresh dirt was flushed into the nearby sewer, creating erosion that caused the street to collapse.

It took about a half hour to get the SUV out of the massive 15 feet deep hole.

When the tow truck pulled the SUV out, the police discovered the car was full of water, causing extensive damage.

The owner of the car had a difficult time with the entire situation. “I didn't see my car outside. Where is my car,” said the car’s owner, Muy Lin. “Yeah, my car was inside a hole.”

Police said they think the SUV is totaled, not because of the damage it suffered falling into the hole but because of water damage.

But the Philadelphia Water Company says that if that car was parked legally, they will probably make full restitution.
