Americans Wealthiest But Not Happiest: Study

Americans are wealthier than people in other countries — but they aren't necessarily happier. A new well-being study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development found average household wealth in the U.S. substantially higher than that in any other country. Americans also ranked high on housing and happiness — although they're not as satisfied with their lives as their Norwegian, Swiss and Danish counterparts, the study found. They also don't live as long, falling short by one year of the average life expectancy of 80 years among OECD countries. And Americans' work-life balance suffers compared with that of Danes, Belgians and Spaniards, though not compared with the Japanese and Mexicans.
