DEP: Water Drinkable Despite Concerns

POSTED: 8:27 pm EDT July 1, 2008
UPDATED: 8:42 pm EDT July 1, 2008

There are some water concerns in a Montgomery County community Tuesday.

The State Department of Environmental Protection said two wells were recently deepened in Gilbertsville, which resulted in arsenic levels that are slightly above the acceptable level.

Letters were sent to residents by the Superior Water Company, saying the water is drinkable, with no health impact, over the short term.

The wells will have filters installed and be corrected in a few months.
