    • Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski Funeral Plans Announced

    PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia police formally announced Monday the funeral arrangements for Philadelphia police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

    On Thursday at 6 p.m., friends, family and the public can pay their respects at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, located at 10975 Academy Road in Philadelphia.

    A viewing will be held from 7:30 a.m. until noon Friday at The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul, located at 1723 Race Street in Philadelphia. A mass of Christian burial takes place at noon, and internment will follow the services at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road in Bensalem.

    Friday's viewing, services and internment are open to the public, police said.

    Mayor Michael Nutter already declared a 30-day period of mourning for the slain officer and requested that all flags in the city be lowered to half-staff for that period.

    Police advised that traffic will be extremely heavy on Academy Road during Thursday's viewing, and there will be intermittent closures between Comly Road and Red Lion Road.
