LIVERMORE, Calif. -- A light bulb at a fire station in California has been burning for the past 107 years.
According to the Livermore Fire Department, the 4-watt bulb was made by the Shelby Light Company and donated to the fire station.Outside of a couple of moves, it has burned continuously ever since then.Firefighters threw a party for the bulb when it turned 100 and it has its own Web site where people write to it.Caretakers estimated that the bulb has burned for more than 1 million hours.Fire officials said the bulb, if viewed from a certain angle, spells the word "on."They said that is symbolic of their "always on duty" ethic.
