UPDATED: 1:47 pm EDT May 5, 2008

Five people died in two unrelated crashes in Delaware over the weekend, police said.

On Sunday, four people died near Georgetown after being involved in a multivehicle crash at Routes 9 and 30.

Police said someone driving an SUV failed to slow down at an intersection as the light turned green and struck stopped traffic.

The SUV struck a car driven by Rolanda Ayers, 29, of Lewes, Del., as she started to pull forward. The impact pushed Ayers' car into moving traffic, where it was struck by another car and flipped several times.

The SUV crossed over into oncoming traffic, struck several other vehicles, flipped several times and caught on fire.

All three people inside the SUV died. They have not been identified.

Ayers also died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation. The intersection was closed for four hours.

Another weekend crash in Delaware claimed the life of an 83-year-old woman.

Police said Dorothy Marciniszyn, of Wilmington, died in a crash at Five Points on Sunday. Three others suffered serious injuries in the Route 4 crash.

Marciniszyn and Doris Starr were passengers in a car driven by Doris Grant, 76. Starr and Grant were listed in serious condition.

The youngest victim, Eduardo Rodriguez, 21, of Wilmington, was driving without a license when he crashed into the women's car, police said.

All the victims are from Wilmington, according to authorities.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed. Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
