A man was shot execution style at a car wash in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, police said.It happened around 3:35 p.m. Monday at the Winning Edge Carwash on the 3700 block of Frankford Avenue, police said.According to police, a 19-year-old was cleaning the passenger side rear tire of a green Grand Marquis when someone came up behind him and fired at least two shots, one shot striking the 19-year-old in the head.
"It did not appear to be a robbery at all. It appeared to be a execution," Chief Inspector Scott Small, of the Philadelphia police, said. The 19-year-old is in extremely critical condition at Temple University Hospital, officials said.Police said they have a lead on the shooter because the car wash has a good surveillance video system including a camera that looks directly over the shooting scene."The perpetrator walked up to the victim who at the time was cleaning his right rear tire. The perpetrator shot the male in the head, point blank range, execution style, and then the male collapses onto the ground. And the perpetrator fled the scene. We believe the perpetrator ran north on Frankford Avenue from Sedgley (Avenue)," Small said.NBC 10 Reporter Mike Strug reported that when the shooting took place the shooter had a dark hooded-sweatshirt on so police were unable to see his face. But as the man walked to the scene on Sedgley Avenue there was another camera and there he was looking around and had not put the hood up over his face yet, Strug reported.Police said that image gave them a good picture of who they are searching for.
