Man Tries To Steal $640K From Security Facility

A man tried to walk away with $640,000 but didn't get far Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at an armored services and security center in Southwest Philadelphia.

Police said a man wearing a Brinks shirt walked through a gate at the Brinks facility, located on the 7400 block of Holstein Avenue, picked up a bag of cash and to get away.

But he was grabbed by guards when he started to run.

He was taken into custody shortly after the 7:40 a.m. incident.

Police said no one was injured in the attempted robbery.

The alleged thief was not identified.
