Federal, state and local authorities arrested seven illegal immigrants in connection to an international drug-trafficking circle that allegedly used knick-knack owls to mask heroin dealing.Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents discovered heroin was being shipped from an undisclosed overseas location, through a southern city and to the streets of New Castle County in Delaware. On Tuesday afternoon, a SWAT Team, drug control unit and ICE authorities executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Red Clay Apartments, where they seized 95 grams of pure heroin, a small amount of cocaine and a .380 semi-automatic handgun.
Police said heroin sells for $300 a gram.Investigators arrested the following suspects who lived in the apartment:Martin Flores Cardenes, 30, was charged with cocaine possession; Martin Romero Flores, 18, was charged with trafficking more than 50 grams of heroin; and Luis Angel Romero Flores, 24, will be charged on federal gun charges, according to authorities.Jose Flores Perez, 39, Jose Felipe Carbajal Magana, 31, Victor Manuel Rios Herrara, 24, and Antonio Carbajal, 23, were also inside the apartment and arrested. At least one of the suspects was found to be a member of a criminal street gang, police said, noting that all are from Mexico and in the U.S. illegally. All defendants were incarcerated at the Howard Young Correctional Facility and face deportation. If any are not charged criminally, they will be detained in the custody of ICE and placed into removal proceedings for eventual return to Mexico.
