NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Delaware state police identified the two motorcyclists killed in a collision with an SUV in Delaware as Luis Coreano, 31, and Jose Baez, 30, of Bethlehem, Pa.Coreano, who suffered a head injury, was pronounced dead at the scene. Baez suffered internal injuries and multiple broken bones and died on the way to the hospital after the New Castle crash, police said.Police charged the 67-year-old SUV drive, Frederick Stickel, of New Castle, with two counts of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after they said he pulled out in front of the motorcyclists.
Troopers who arrived at the scene just after the crash said Stickel could not stand without stumbling, had slurred speech and he smelled strongly of alcohol.According to court documents, he told police he drank at least 80 ounces of beer -- that's more than six bottles of a standard-sized bottle -- and two shots of vodka more than 30 minutes before the crash.Police said a portable Breathalyzer test showed Stickel's blood alcohol content was 0.092, which was above the legal limit of 0.08.
