Four people having breakfast on a deck in Wildwood had to run for their lives Sunday when it collapsed.

Homeowner Dexter Silimperi said he heard a crack and the porch began to fall.

He said the repair crew told him the wood was not finished properly and rotted. The deck itself was also not framed properly.

Silimperi settled on the property in April, but this isn't his first problem.

"We've had a leak in our roof, which hasn't been addressed. We've had our garage door collapse last week and fell apart -- could have killed us. It's just shoddy workmanship," Silimperi said.

The city will have inspectors on the scene Tuesday morning.

They will also check a series of homes on that same block for similar problems.
