ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Nostalgia buffs, bargain hunters and curiosity seekers started pouring into Atlantic City Thursday morning, hoping to get their hands on all the items that the Sands Casino Hotel planned to sell. About $1.5 million worth of merchandise will be up for grabs when the sale starts in the morning. Liquidators in charge of the sale have said the casino plans to sell everthing -- including the kitchen sink. There will be something for everyone, too, with towels going for $1 and the giant red velvet curtain that rose and fell on acts at The Copa Room potentially selling for up to $10,000.Chandeliers, a marble and wood bar and leather chairs from a private lounge used by Frank Sinatra were expected to sell quickly, too.The sale will continue until everything is sold.
Everything has to be cleared out before the building is imploded in the fall and a new hotel-casino is built on the site.NBC 10 anchor Lori Delgado said she would like to get a J acuzzi, and co-anchors Bill Henley and Terry Ruggles said they would settle for Sands mugs.
