UPDATED: 9:31 am EST December 18, 2006

An airman set to leave for Iraq next week was stabbed to death Sunday in an early morning bar room brawl.

A Trenton man who tried to break up the fight was also stabbed and was in stable condition Monday, police said.

The fight broke out at about 1:30 a.m. inside Ledow By Night and resumed outside on Adams Avenue in the city's Lawncrest neighborhood.

20-year-old Lam Ho, a sergeant stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey from his chest wounds.

Police believe a comment about Ho's pregnant wife sparked the argument that left him dead just outside of the Philadelphia nightclub. The couple was at the bar to hear a performer, according to authorities.

The airman was scheduled to go to Iraq next week.

One woman witness said, "I heard the fight, and I told one of my friends, 'Let's go.' I don't want nothing to happen to us."

The club was shut down, but police said the confrontation began once again outside on the sidewalk. Four men jumped the airman, and he was stabbed in the chest, police said.

The suspect was still on the loose Monday.

"I just hope they find the person who did this and there's justice for him," a witness said.

Investigators said they believed the stabbing was caught on surveillance cameras outside the bar and were scanning through them.
