The IRS says computer glitches and human error are the causes for the recent rebate check confusion.

Almost 350,000 households did not receive the $300 per child rebate, which is part of the economic stimulus rebate payments.

The Associated Press says the IRS did track down the errors. Many taxpayers did not check a necessary box on their paper tax returns to receive the checks and two tax prep software programs were not processing the needed information for the payments.
