Real Or Fake: NBC10 Employee Jumps Over Moving Car
How many times have you been online or saw something on TV and think: “That can’t be real!”Well there is a new video hitting on the Internet with Kobe Bryant and Nike where he jumps over a speeding Aston Martin sports car.Is it real? I’m going to check it out.
YouTube: Kobe Jumps Over A Speeding Car (Aston Martin)After watching the video, I had my doubts about whether or not the video was real. But, is it physically possible. So, the All That & More team contacted Drexel University physics professor Dr. David Goldberg and asked him if a grown man could jump over a speeding car.Goldberg said yes!He says watching the video, you notice that Bryant is not leaning forward or back and is jumping just straight up and down which would allow him to rise above the car.He continued to say that looking at the way Bryant’s legs and trunk fold, how his back is arched and how his arms are high in the air permit his center of mass to remain high and gives him enough thrust to stay above the car.Goldberg also says that it helps that Bryant is a tall athlete with strong, powerful legs and that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. So, I figured I’d try it out. Click on the video to the left to check it out.So, yea, I jumped in front of a green screen and then later our editors superimposed me over the video of a speeding NBC10 car. This is most likely how the Bryant video was produced, but with a lot more special effects. In the end, it’s fake! But, I guess that is the magic of modern video and the Internet. You can pretty much do anything on your computer with a few software programs, a camcorder and a little ingenuity.Vince Lattanzio
