Mission: Makeover

Deb Gets An Updated, Trendy, New Look...And You Can Too!

This is “Mission: Makeover,” where we work to meet your mission…A brand new look! Not only do we help you achieve the style you are looking for, we do it on a budget and give you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate your look each day.

Make sure to scroll down for the “how to” instructional videos!

On our last installment of “Mission: Makeover,” NBC10 intern Mallory wanted a more mature look. So, we hooked her up with a new hairstyle, wardrobe, and makeup routine, which would help her transition from college to the working world. Check out Mallory's Before And After!

But now, we have a new mission: Update A Style, which has been in the making for almost 30 years!

Meet Deb. Deb is 46 years old and recently tied the knot with the love of her life. She is truly loved by everyone she meets, especially by all of her co-workers at Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown, NJ. By day, Deb works at the golf club, but by night, she is hunting ghosts! That’s right! Deb is a ghost hunter for South Jersey Paranormal Research! Well, after this makeover, those ghosts will be looking for her!

Deb wrote us looking for a change. She told us she is comfortable dressing for work and had a professional wardrobe, but lacked more laid back, weekend wear. So, we had our mission and it was time to get started! Click the video to meet Deb and see what she and her coworkers had to say about her current style.

Meet Deb!

The first step in Deb’s transformation is cut and color! Deb wanted a look she could easily recreate at home and that was age appropriate. The best hair stylists to achieve this mission are Heather and Colleen of Louis Christian, Wayne, Roberts Salon And Spa in Moorestown, NJ.

We arrived at the salon and Heather and Colleen got to work. Click the video to see the color Colleen chose for Deb’s hair and for some great hair coloring tips every woman must know.

Hair Coloring Tips

Now that Deb has a new hue, it’s time for a new cut. Heather sat down with Deb to discuss some options and decided the part of her hair was essential, plus Heather was going to straighten it!

Now, the best part of “Mission: Makeover” are the instructional how to’s! We all walk out of the salon feeling and looking great, but sometimes it’s difficult to recreate the look at home. Heather solves that problem! She not only gives Deb and her clients a great cut, she gives great tips! Click the video links below to hear about great hair products and for a step-by-step blow-dry instructional video to help you achieve a perfect look each and every day.

Blow Dry Prep
How you towel dry your hair and the hair products you choose are so important in achieving your final look. Watch this video to see what products were used on Deb, in order to tame frizz, but not weigh down her hair.

Step By Step Blow Drying Tips

For some of us, blow-drying our hair isn’t enough to get a sleek, flawless look. Some of us need another tool, a flat iron. Click the video link below to learn how to properly flat iron your hair.

And don’t stop there! Heather shows Deb how to put essential, finishing touches on her style. Click the link below to see.

Final Style

Now that Deb has a new hairstyle, she is ready for a new makeup routine. All That & More Team Member Diana Marko, is a licensed cosmetologist, so we took Deb to Ulta in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

The great thing about Ulta is you can try on makeup before you purchase! This way, you save cash and don’t have to be inconvenienced with returns.

Deb said she wanted a makeup routine that is age and work appropriate and that can go from day to night. Diana was ready to comb through the store to find the best colors for Deb! So, first things first, Diana had to choose a foundation. Finding the right color that suits your skin tone can be such a challenge. That’s why it’s so important to understand undertones in foundation. Don’t know what undertones are? Click the link below to learn how to choose the right foundation for you.

Choosing A Foundation

When choosing eye shadow, certain colors may look vibrant and you may want to give them a try. But, did you know the type of shadow, like shimmery powders, creams, pastels; look better on certain shaped eyes than on others? Diana found Deb’s eyes to be slightly hooded, which means the natural crease of the eye isn't visible. So, Diana had to steer clear of certain shades. Click the link below to see what colors Diana chose and for a great how to video regarding eye shadow application.

How To Apply Eye Shadow

Ulta is great for testing out makeup before you spend your hard earned cash, but there is something to keep in mind when trying it all on. Make sure you stay clean! Diana has great hygiene tips on how to test makeup in a store. These are very important to know!

How To Test Makeup

Forman Mills! Forman Mills was the next stop on our mission. We wanted to hook Deb up with a new wardrobe. Not only does Forman Mills have a great selection of clothes, it is also affordable. We bought Deb about 10 pieces for under $100! You get so much more for your money.

Deb wanted clothes that could be mixed and matched, clothes that could go from work to weekend! So, that’s what we set out to do. But, we also made a startling discovery! Did you know shoppers can actually lose weight at Forman Mills?! Click the video link below to see what we mean and to get a look at the new additions to Deb’s closet.

Brand New Wardrobe

It’s time for happy hour and for the big reveal! Heather from Louis Christian, Wayne, Roberts Salon And Spa, Diana, and I put all of the pieces together and Deb was ready to wow her friends and coworkers. Click the link below to watch the big reveal!

The Big Reveal!

Deb was thrilled with her new look. Not only did we meet her mission, we also met it on a budget! Her entire makeover cost under $200! Plus, we had a great time shopping and getting to know one another. Deb had the best attitude and was so appreciative for the whole experience. And we were so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with her. What a great sport! Click on the video below for some key makeover tips we all must keep in mind.
