Health Watch Puts Snore Ring To The Test

Chris Baldwin snores. Maybe it's not loud enough to bring down the house but it is pretty loud.

"A very loud train right through my head," said Anne Marie Baldwin, Chris Baldwin's wife. "Sometimes I would want to put a pillow over his face."

Chris' father-in-law, Joe Robinette, said his wife Helen can't stand it when his snoring keeps her up at night.

"I do abandon ship sometimes and sleep elsewhere so he can sleep throughout the night," Helen Robinette said.

So, when given the chance to try a snoring cure, the family couldn't wait.

"I jumped at the chance, praying somehow that this could help. I would try anything, anything," Anne Marie Baldwin said.

Chris and Helen tried wearing Snore No More's Anti Snor therapeutic ring. It claims to work by acupressure. Two tiny pressure balls are supposed to allow energy to flow through your body and leave you snore-free in a few days.

The Anti Snor ring costs $45. What do doctors think about it?

Dr. Richard Schwab from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania sleep center said that snoring is a result of vibration of the soft palate in a narrowed airway and could be a sign of sleep apnea. He said he does not think the rink is going to work in treating snoring.

"I think it's a big waste of money," Schwab said.

But, after several nights, Health Watch's test families had a much different opinion.

"He did not snore one bit. I kid you not. Do you see this face? It's a happy face," said Anne Marie Baldwin.

"I noticed like something like tingling or like an energy thing going on. I don't know. Maybe it was psychological, but I felt something going on," Chris Baldwin said.

"The first three nights did seem pretty good. Last night we had a little relapse, but we're pulling for it tonight," Joe Robinette said.

"I slept pretty well," said Helen Robinette.

"We have the wedding band and now we have the snoring band," said Anne Marie Baldwin.
