Most people want a flu shot this year, but all of a sudden many doctors' offices don't have any vaccine and flu shot clinics are shutting down. The government says there's no shortage, so what is happening? Experts say the problem is an increased demand and problems with production and distribution.More people want the vaccine to be healthy in case the bird flu strikes, although the regular flu vaccine will not protect people from bird flu.One vaccine maker, Chiron, said that it has big production delays. However, other vaccine makers said they still have millions more doses of vaccine to ship out, so if you are waiting for your shot, officials say it's coming -- just slowly.
Sleep Apnea Linked To Stroke
Sleep apnea dramatically increases the risk for stroke and death, according to a new study of more than 1,000 people. The study showed that people with obstructive sleep apnea -- who snore loudly and stop breathing while they sleep -- have at least double the risk for stroke and death.Previous studies have shown apnea can increase your risk of heart attack. However, the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine, a popular treatment for sleep apnea, can effectively treat the problem in many people.Copyright 2005 by NBC10.com.
