Dieters' prayers may be answered.A Philadelphia-based company is about to launch the first diet pill that's over-the-counter and approved by the Federal Drug Administration. And another diet pill may be also on the way. Both of the pills also require diet and exercise but the results are pretty impressive.Studies of Rimonabant, sold as Accomplia, showed even patients with at least one heart risk factor, lost 15 pounds over a year.An FDA advisory panel is set to review that pill Wednesday. But going on sale this week is the first over-the-counter diet pill that the FDA has already approved. It's called Alli, and its maker said you could lose 50 percent more weight than you could with diet and exercise alone. Both pills have their share of side effects. If you eat foods high in fat, Alli can cause diarrhea.Accomplia can increase suicidal thoughts and behavior. The FDA panel will take a closer look at those findings Wednesday. And remember, that neither pill works unless you keep up diet and exercise.Alli could be on store shelves Thursday or Friday.
