Golf Digest Causes a Stir With Tiger/Obama Cover

Golf Digest wasn't expecting to walk into a scandal with its latest cover. But the magazine found itself in hot water this week thanks to a composite cover image featuring a Photoshopped President Barack Obama with Tiger Woods serving as his caddy. The accompanying headline reads, "10 Tips Obama Can Take From Tiger."

The mag's advice for the President does not, however, include crashing an Escalade SUV into a tree and a fire hydrant or engaging in several alleged affairs.

The magazine's Web site stated on its Editors' Blog on Thursday that the issue had gone to press on November 14 – before the events of the Thanksgiving weekend and Tiger's current media firestorm – with the cover itself finished during the first week of November.

"The cover was not a photo shoot with Woods and Obama. It was a photo illustration, based on a shoot with body doubles done in Los Angeles by photographer Martin Ellis," the mag noted.

No word yet if the mag's next issue will feature Tiger's lessons for other world leaders.
