Save Money At Grocery Store

POSTED: 2:22 pm EST January 26, 2006

Going to the grocery store can take a huge chunk out of your wallet, but there are ways to get more for your money.

Supermarket guru Terri Gault has made a whole business out of helping you save money on your grocery bill.

She has tips on how you can save right now.

The biggest one she says is to clip coupons, but don't stop there.

Check the coupons against your store's weekly flier.

Don't use a coupon until an item goes on sale, and when something is on sale, buy several.

It's a process Gault called stockpiling.

"People decide they're going to have a certain meal plan during the week and they buy accordingly. That's not going to save money. The way to save money is stockpile and instead look at your stockpile. Open your cupboards and in your refrigerator and, 'Gee, I could make 12 different meals tonight, what's it going to be?' Instead of running out and getting things for a certain meal," Gault said.

Gault has a Web site called the Grocery Game that makes it easy.
