POSTED: 1:53 pm EDT May 22, 2006
UPDATED: 2:12 pm EDT May 22, 2006

Wells Fargo has sent letters to some of its mortgage customers telling them their personal information was compromised.

The letter said that computers being sent from one office to another never reached their destination. The computers contained, names, addresses and Social Security numbers, but no account information.

The letter said that police think the criminals were after the hardware and not the information, but they are warning consumers to closely monitor all of their accounts.

Wells Fargo told NBC 10 news that they have had no indication of breaches from this.
